Dynamic Field and
Shop Balancing

Dynamic Field and Shop Balancing

We are experienced in dynamic balancing on-site, or in the shop of Machine Dynamics Inc. We are equipped to balance almost any type and size of machine, from pumps to fans, and everything in between.

For shop balancing we use one of several balancing machines, depending on the rotor configuration:

  • Precision bearing twin-roller static balancing stand
  • Bubble balancer
  • Heins 1,000-pound-capacity dynamic balancing stand with digital readouts
  • Schenck-Trebel micro balancer with digital readouts

For field balancing on-site we can drill, weld, epoxy, grind, add hardware, or clip on balance weights. There are no size or speed limitations. If you can make it spin, then we can balance it to run smoothly. We use the following instrumentation for on-site balancing:

  • DI-2200 Realtime FFT Analyzer, 2-channel
  • HP 3560A Dynamic Signal Analyzer, 2 channel
  • Zonic A&D 3522 FFT Analyzer
  • Zonic A&D 3525 Dual Channel FFT Analyzer
  • Bently-Nevada Balance Master
  • Bently-Nevada TK-80 Tuneable Filter Analyzer
  • IRD 350 Analyzer Balancing

Methods of balancing can include any of the following, depending on rotor configuration, initial condition, and desired level of balance results.

  • Single-Plane Vector method
  • Two-Plane Influence Coefficient Method
  • Four-Run Method
  • Seven-Run Method
  • Static-Couple Method
  • Multi-Plane Multi-Speed Influence Coefficient Method
